Data Informed Community Engagement in Action: Collaborative Crime Prevention Training
Overview
This full-day, in-person workshop equips public safety leaders, government agencies, non-profit organizations, and community stakeholders with the tools to work together to prevent crime and manage public spaces effectively.
Using Data-Informed Community Engagement, participants will learn how to create a shared strategy for crime prevention that leverages advanced crime analytics and the unique strengths of local partners. This concept provides a clear, step-by-step process to bring multiple groups together, define problems, align resources, and design programs that are locally relevant and sustainable.
Through interactive discussions, hands-on exercises, and real-world case studies, participants will:
- Understand how to shift from reactive responses to proactive, collaborative problem-solving.
- Practice strategies for co-production, where multiple stakeholders share responsibility for public safety.
- Learn to interpret and use crime and place-based analytics to guide decision-making.
- Build leadership and communication skills for coordinating diverse partners toward common goals.
- Leave with practical steps to launch or enhance an initiative in their own communities.
By the end of the workshop, attendees will have a roadmap to make an immediate impact using existing resources and partnerships, creating a flexible, adaptive approach to public safety that grows stronger over time.
