Event – Crime Analysis for Risk-based Policing and DICE Workshop – Bakersfield
Crime Analysis for Risk-based Policing & DICE™ Workshops
At the Bakersfield Police Department
Overview
Day 1: Crime Analysis for Risk-based Policing Risk-Based Policing (RBP) leverages advanced analytical techniques like Risk Terrain Modeling (RTM) to identify environmental factors that contribute to crime and address them effectively. By focusing on places rather than individuals, RBP enables law enforcement to deploy resources where they are needed most, addressing the underlying conditions that make locations susceptible to criminal activity. This proactive approach reduces crime and promotes fairness in policing by aligning actions with data-driven insights. RTM diagnostics empower agencies to understand why problems occur at specific locations, paving the way for practical solutions that are both effective and sustainable. This training class will guide participants in utilizing RTM to diagnose and address crime hotspots, making communities safer and fostering trust between law enforcement and the public. Attendees will learn to translate spatial risk data into actionable strategies, ensuring equitable and efficient resource allocation to improve public safety outcomes. Day 2: DICE™ Simsi’s DICE™ (Data-Informed Community Engagement) workshop informs you about how to transform your approach to public safety and crime prevention. These hands-on sessions empower participants with tools and strategies for collaborative, data-driven efforts. Using Risk Terrain Modeling (RTM) and the principles of place-based analytics, DICE™ equips communities, law enforcement, and organizations to diagnose risk factors, design tailored interventions, and co-produce safer environments. Participants will learn to build effective crime prevention programs rooted in evidence-based practices that save resources and enhance transparency. Whether you're a community leader, law enforcement officer, or stakeholder in public safety, DICE™ workshops provide actionable insights for addressing crime and violence. Learn how to align your initiatives with cutting-edge crime analysis techniques and engage diverse community partners in co-producing safety strategies.
