At Simsi, we build data analysis and productivity tools that empower cities to implement Data-Informed Community Engagement (DICE). DICE is a public safety programming approach that fosters collaboration among multiple stakeholders, aligning their tasks with their agency missions. Our tools help agencies analyze their data, plan actions, and communicate effectively to ensure solutions meet everyone’s expectations. We’re delivering a roadmap for community engagement-driven public safety.

Job Description:

We’re seeking a skilled Full-Stack React Developer with expertise in modern web development technologies to help build and maintain our web apps. This role will involve both frontend and backend development, focusing on creating robust and scalable applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain web applications using React, Remix, and TypeScript.
  • Design and implement backend services with Node.js and TypeORM.
  • Collaborate with the design team to turn UI/UX designs into functional applications.
  • Ensure responsiveness and performance across multiple devices and browsers.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
  • Perform code reviews and ensure best practices are followed.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • Bonus: Develop and maintain GIS-related features and applications (if applicable).

Requirements:

  • Strong proficiency in React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Experience with Remix.
  • Solid understanding of backend development using Node.js and TypeORM.
  • Experience working with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).
  • Familiarity with Git and version control workflows.
  • Ability to write efficient, reusable code.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong Plus: Experience with GIS technologies (e.g., Leaflet, Mapbox, or similar).

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Familiarity with Docker and containerized applications.
  • Interest in occasionally working in person or traveling to community engagement meetings to represent Simsi.
